Mirzapur Seasons 1, 2, and 3 Recap
‘Mirzapur‘, a highly acclaimed revenge thriller and gangster drama, first premiered in November 2018 with its first season and quickly garnered a massive following. Mirzapur Season 2, released in October 2020, maintained the series’ popularity and had an equally, if not more, intense plot and strong performances.
The third season of Mirzapur, released in July 2024, was more gripping and intense than ever. It continued its legacy as a crime thriller with returning stars Pankaj Tripathi, Rasika Dugal, Ali Fazal, Shweta Tripathi, and more.
The crime thriller is directed by Karan Anshuman, who wrote the script alongside Puneet Krishna and Vineet Krishna. It is an Excel Entertainment production by Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani.
Mirzapur Storyline
The story of Mirzapur is one of revenge and redemption. It revolves around Pankaj Tripathi’s character Akhandanand Tripathi, a crime lord with a carpet business as a front, and the Pandit brothers, Guddu and Bablu. Mirzapur’s first season became an instant blockbuster. It was praised for its gripping storyline and powerful performances by the talented actors. Mirzapur seasons 2 and 3 continued to captivate audiences with twists and turns.
Mirzapur is undoubtedly responsible for starting a wave of mafia-theme shows and web series on the Indian OTT platforms.
Mirzapur Season 1
Akhandanand Tripathi, a.k.a. Kaleen Bhaiya brings on Guddu and Bablu Pandit to help run his gun business. His son, Munna Bhaiya, is upset about this choice. To make things worse, Munna’s love interest, Sweety Gupta, actually likes Guddu, which makes Munna even angrier. Filled with rage, Munna crashes Lala’s daughter’s wedding and starts causing chaos while looking out for Guddu to take him down. In a brutal twist, Munna ends up killing a pregnant Sweety and Bablu, while Golu and Guddu manage to escape. Meanwhile, Kaleen Bhaiya takes things to another level by killing a policeman to keep his power over the people.
Mirzapur Season 2 Ending
Season 2 takes a much darker and bloodier turn. Golu, filled with anger and a desire for revenge, begins to practice her shooting. Meanwhile, Munna gets Sharad Shukla to turn against Kaleen Bhaiya. He falls in love with Madhuri, the daughter of Uttar Pradesh’s Chief Minister. As the season progresses, Munna plots to kill his own father. In an epic showdown, Guddu, Golu, and their crew confront Munna and Kaleen Bhaiya. The battle is intense, and Kaleen Bhaiya gets seriously hurt, while Guddu finally avenges his brother Bablu by killing Munna.
Mirzapur Season 3
After Munna’s death and Kaleen Bhaiya being on the run, Guddu takes over as the ruler of Purvanchal, thanks to Beena Tripathi’s support. But, Guddu is facing serious trouble and his rise to power might lead to his downfall because power can make even the smartest people lose their way. Kaleen Bhaiya’s return suggests that the balance and fight for power has gotten even more intense and will bring a change in this revenge story.
It is no shocker that Mirzapur Season 3 has surpassed a staggering 30.8 million viewers, making it the most-watched OTT in India for the year 2024. According to the latest report by Ormax Media, Mirzapur achieved an unmatched peak of 60% of marketing buzz, ranking third on the all-time list behind its predecessor, Mirzapur Season 2, and The Family Man Season 2.
